Free Images

The Maui Wall Candy App features free images in nearly every Wallpaper category, as well as a dedicated Free Images category in the Wallpaper Collection.

When browsing photos in a Wallpaper category, free images will be denoted with the Free button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

If you find a free image you’d like to save, tap the Free button and then choose Save to Camera Roll to save it.

If prompted to allow “Wall Candy” access to your Photos, please tap Allow so that the App can save your selected photos to your device.

Once you successfully save the image, you can exit the Maui Wall Candy App and go to the built-in Photos App on your device. You should see the newly saved image in the Camera Roll section (iPhone/iPod Touch) or the Photos tab (iPad).

Making Purchases

When browsing images in a given Category, you’ll see a Buy button in the upper right hand corner of the screen indicating that an image is available for purchase.

Tapping the Buy button will display the price of the image you’re currently viewing.

After the price is displayed, you can initiate a purchase by clicking on the button with the price indicated.

Apple ID Login

Purchases are made with your Apple ID account.

If you are already logged into the iTunes Store with your Apple ID, you will be prompted to login with that account during the purchase process. If the Apple ID displayed is incorrect, you will need to exit the App, go to the Settings App on your device, and go to iTunes Store settings to logout of that account.

Once you are logged into your Apple ID account, you will be prompted with one last confirmation message to finalize your purchase.

Upon completion of your purchase, you can choose to save the image right away or always come back and download the image again at a later time.

Saving Images

Once you purchase an image, you can save it to your current device or any of your other devices as many times as you wish.

Images that you have already purchased will be indicated with a Save button in the upper right hand corner of the screen when browsing images.

When you tap the Save button for an image, you will be given the option to Save to Camera Roll, which saves the image to the built-in Photos App on your device.

I don’t see the Save button…

If you have reinstalled the application on your device, or accessing the application on a second device, and do not see the Save button for an image you’ve already purchased, you will need to access the Restore Purchases menu option before saving the image to that device.

Setting as Wallpaper

Once you have saved a wallpaper image to your device, you will need to exit the Maui Wall Candy App in order to set that image as either the Lock Screen or Home Screen image for your device.

Instructions for changing wallpaper images for your device may vary by device and iOS version, but there are generally two options for doing so:

  • Go to the Settings App on your device and look for the Wallpaper option,
  • or, go to the Photos App on your device, locate the image you saved, and when viewing that image, tap the Action button in the toolbar and choose Use as Wallpaper.

No Cropping Necessary

Depending on the version of your device, the Wallpaper settings may ask you if you want to Move and Scale the image before applying it as Wallpaper.

While you’re free to do so, each Wallpaper image available in the Maui Wall Candy App is already downloaded at the exact screen size for your current device, so it will already be a perfect fit.

When using the Maui Wall Candy App on a second device to save a previously purchased image, the App will also download the device-specific version of that image, regardless of whether it was purchased on a device with a different screen size.

Restoring Purchases

Whenever your purchase an image in the Maui Wall Candy App, you’re able to download that image to any device that uses the same Apple ID that made the initial purchase.

Additionally, if you delete the App and reinstall it, or have to backup or restore your device as new, those purchases are still yours and you will not be charged to download the images again.

In order to detect purchases made on other devices, or after reinstalling the App, you first need to restore those purchases before they can be downloaded.

Restore Steps

Fortunately, the restore process is simple.

Click on the Menu button on the Home screen, and click the Restore Purchases option.

You will be prompted to login with the Apple ID you used when you made the initial purchase.

Note: if the Apple ID displayed is not the correct account, you will need to exit the App, go to the Settings App on your device, and use the iTunes Store settings to logout of the current account.

After logging in successfully, the App will contact the App Store to find your previous purchases and restore them to your device.

Once the restore is complete, you can use the View Previous Purchases button in the Menu screen to view all your purchases, or return back to the Home screen and browse through the App to find those images in their respective categories.

Viewing Purchases

Once you’ve purchased an image, you will see the Save button in the upper right hand corner of the screen when browsing photos in the App.

However, to make viewing all your purchases easier, the App includes a View Previous Purchases option when tapping on the Menu button from the Home screen.

If you are accessing the Maui Wall Candy App on a second device or have reinstalled the App after making purchases, you may not see all of your purchases listed until you restore your previous purchases to that device.
